    A promising start from Newcastle all-rounder JoePrice has been haltedafter rain stopped play early on day threeat the n Country Championships in Wollongong.

    Opening for NSW Country in the first of five straight Twenty20 fixtures Price had raced to 33 from 20 balls, including five fours and a six, inside the opening 25 minutes against South Country at University 1 on Thursday morning.

    Together with Jordan Moran (24 not out) theyhad helped the unbeaten Bush Blues to a commanding 0-57 from six overs.

    Elsewhere and Queensland Country had the upper hand against Victoria Country (5-86) after 14 overs at North Dalton Park while Western Country (1-50) were going along at a run-a-ball againstEast Asia Pacific at Figtree Oval.

    All three matches have now been abandoned because of the wet weather.

    Round four fixtures, also T20, are scheduled for the same venues later today and officials are hopeful of conditions clearing.

    East Asia Pacific and Victoria are due to meet at Figtree (2pm) before NSW and Queensland do battle at University 1 (6pm) and Western clash with South at North Dalton (6pm), both under lights.
